COUNCIL MEETING
August 18, 1997
PRESENT:
Mayor Lonnie Falk; Council Members Raymond Burse, Lee Zimmerman, Harold
Smith, Sandra Tucci and Alan Simon; Acting City Attorney Ingrid Federspiel;
Police Chief Lewis Nugent; City Administrator Ann Simms; Recording Secretary
Phyllis A. O’Donnell.
Absent: Council Member Nan Milliman.
Mayor Falk called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Council Member Simon moved approval of the minutes of the regular City
Council Meeting of July 21, 1997; Council Member Burse seconded; passed unanimously.
COMMENTS FROM RESIDENTS:
There were no residents present.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Mayor Falk explained that due to the end of the fiscal year preparations
that a financial report for July was not available.
POLICE REPORT:
Chief Nugent reported that Officer Price had finished his training and
he was up and running. Chief Nugent stated that Officer Price is very enthusiastic
and doing a good job. It was also reported that the in-car video camera units
should be here Thursday or Friday of this week. With the start of school,
officers will be patrolling bus stops and the Chief asked residents to be
careful at this time of day. Chief Nugent stated that there has been a rash
of golf clubs being taken. He warns golfers not to leave their clubs unattended.
Council Member Simon thanked the Police Department for all its help during
the Kentucky Opera presentation.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Council Member Smith gave SECOND READING, ORDINANCE NO. 345, SERIES 1997:
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD FOR THE CITY OF PROSPECT.
Council Member Simon seconded. Passed unanimously on roll call vote 5-0. For:
Tucci, Simon, Burse, Smith, Zimmerman. Against: None.
Council Member moved to accept a Quitclaim Deed for the entrance to the Meadows
off Covered Bridge Road. Council Member Smith seconded. Passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
Mayor Falk announced that he will be holding meetings with residents of
each subdivision starting next month. These informal meetings will be for
the exchange of information, suggestions, ideas and the like. He encourages
residents to attend and offer suggestions. Residents will be informed of time
and place.
ADJOURNMENT:
Council Member Zimmerman moved adjournment; Council Member Burse seconded;
passed unanimously. Mayor Falk declared the meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
